We had a five day visit to Finland and after returning home I got a cold. Nothing serious, just a runny nose and a bit of cough, but it has already been one week like this so it’s getting a bit annoying. The trip itself went really well and we met some friends and relatives.
But today’s topic is about Illustration Friday which is a weekly creative participatory art exhibit for illustrators and artists from all over the world. A new topic is posted each Friday and artists have one week to draw, paint or doodle their interpretation. Submitted illustrations and new topics are shown in the Illustration Friday website.
This is my first time taking part to Illustration Friday, and I’ll probably continue doing these blog posts every now and then. The current topic is “tree” and I happened to have a suitable sketch which was originally a birthday card for my (now 92 year old) grandfather. He of course has got the original artwork, so I did a new one with a new technique I haven’t used before. I “coloured” the drawing with different shades of grey and then edited it on computer to add some colours. It was also my first time using these markers so I didn’t know how they would behave on the paper, and the line art ended up spreading. Oh well. But it was fun, so I might practice this technique some more in the future.
